Jackie Chan now wants to work on an album with his son Jaycee

The world's second highest-paid actor and sometimes Disney pop star Jackie Chan said he wants to collaborate with his son Jaycee on movie projects and even an album.

Chan, who was due to make headlines after an unusual month-long absence from media reports, hopes that going into business with his son could help mend their relationship after Jaycee's six-month stint behind bars on drug-related charges. In an interview with the Associated Press yesterday, Chan said he was inspired after observing the bond between American actor Will Smith and his son on set.

Before, "I was too Chinese, traditional — you, son, go away, I don't want to help you, you have to help yourself," Chan said in an interview in Beijing. When filming the remake of "The Karate Kid" alongside Will Smith's teenage son Jaden Smith, Chan said he was struck seeing Will "helping his son to be in a movie, every day on the set." "I say why am I so stubborn? I have to help my son," Chan told The Associated Press.

The Hong Kong actor said he was looking for suitable movie projects for Jaycee, 32, and in the meantime his son would produce one of his records, expected out at the end of the year. He also said he hoped Jaycee would sing a duet with him on one of the tracks. "Probably there is one song that we will sing to each other," said Chan, adding that in it he would apologize for ignoring Jaycee when he was young. "I say 'sorry, I was busy at that time.'"

Jaycee, who came out of prison a changed man, apparently wrote some songs and scripts while serving hard time.

While Chinese authorities would typically ban celebrities with drug charges from appearing in TV shows or movies, Jaycee was taken off SARFT's blacklist ahead of the release of A Monk Comes Down the Mountain, which he'd already finished filming before his detainment
