1 billion people used Facebook on Monday
More than 1 billion people logged on to Facebook on Monday, marking the first time the social media giant had surpassed 1 billion users in a single day, according to a post on founder Mark Zuckerberg’s profile page.

“On Monday, 1 in 7 people on Earth used Facebook to connect with their friends and family,” the entrepreneur wrote.
He went on to explain why this 1 billion figure is different from the numbers the company reports to analysts and investors.
In that case, Facebook reports the average daily users over the course of a month. In June, for example, Facebook had 968 million daily active users. The 1 billion number is also different from the number of total accounts used more than twice a month: Facebook surpassed 1 billion active accounts in 2012, and now has 1.5 billion active accounts.
