Indonesian media can access info on 1MDB through Parliament's website
The Indonesian media can access information on the outcome of investigations conducted by the Public Accounts Committee on 1Malaysia Development Berhad through www.parlimen.gov.my/pac.
"If you want to publish any reports on 1MDB, you need not take or extract information from other sources particularly reports that are biased," Malaysia's Ambassador to Indonesia Datuk Seri Zahrain Mohamed Hashim told the Indonesian media at his office here today.
He noted certain media organisations in Indonesia had recently published reports on 1MDB based on an interview by the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC).
He said the interview had been one-sided, reflecting only the opposition's perspective.
On the other hand, he said, the investigation report by PAC is credible and balanced as the committee comprises members of parliament from both the government and opposition.
The investigation conducted by PAC found weaknesses in 1MDB's management and also confirmed there was no evidence to implicate Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak in 1MDB's quandary, he said.
He said issues surrounding 1MDB were actually about corporate governance but were subjected to investigations worldwide, after being turned into a political issue to damage the prime minister's image.
He said allegations hurled at the prime minister over 1MDB were heresay and no party had been able to produce any evidence to prove otherwise, to this day.
